This gorgeous styled photo shoot taken at the always incredible venue The Paseo is exactly why we were inspired to shake up the Arizona wedding industry and start The Marry Mart.
This moody desert shoot came together with the handwork and magic of some of the best wedding vendors in AZ. One of our goals is to create inspiring wedding looks of all moods, vibes, and inspirations to promote local Arizona wedding vendors and to create a one-stop-shop for brides and grooms.
Every detail of this shoot was executed so beautifully and methodically by each vendor. Seriously, we were in awe of how well each person took our vision and just ran with it. While we provided inspiration, we want to always leave creative freedom and control in the hands of our amazing friends in the wedding industry. We are still blown away at the hard work and time each person put into making the first Marry Mart shoot a reality.
When we met with the model at Cleo and Clementine for the dress fitting, we had no idea what we were really in for. I mean, just look at this dress!!! The lace, the low V, the sheer sleeves, the chocker turtleneck, the open back?! This dress is an absolutely dream. Not to mention, it basically fit our model like a glove! Anyone who has ever worked a photo shoot knows that never happens. Its like it was meant for her. It was meant to be a part of this magical shoot. We are so thankful to Monique for this special part she played in this project.
If you haven't heard of Wildflower AZ, you're welcome! This mother-daughter team works so hard to create gorgeous custom florals for brides all over Arizona. We can't express how excited we are that this team has come into our lives. They have supported the Marry Mart in countless ways and the bouquets they create have us swooning for days! The florals they created for this shoot were the perfect balance of light and dark. Whimsical yet edgy. Simple yet captivating. Between the bouquet, cake florals, and random pieces they created for the shoot, they really took our idea and made it their own while bringing our story to life. True professionals!
The Cake: Bear and the Honey
We were really inspired by the exposed cakes popping up and we felt this was the perfect time to showcase a dark cake! Monique of Bear and the Honey created such a gorgeous (and dangerously delicious!) cake for the shoot. We love the delicate layer of frosting, the exposed chocolate layers, and the gorgeous blackberries and figs adorning the top layer.
Seriously, can we order these once a week from her!? She was a vendor at our first Marry Mart and we've loved working with her and seeing how incredibly talented she is!
Mad props to Wildflower AZ for throwing some dark floral magic into the mix! Adding florals into your wedding desserts has become quite popular over the last couple of years and we don't hate it. It adds such a beautiful touch and feeling that only elements of nature could provide. This cake is perfect for Fall inspired couples!
The Suit: Magro Clothing
How do we begin to count the ways Magro Clothing RULES?! The second we stumbled upon their Instagram, we knew we wanted to work with them. Suits are becoming wildly popular in the wedding industry. Men feel they can express themselves and feel more comfortable on their wedding day in a sleek and modern suit vs the becomingly outdated tux. Men today want to experiment with color, textures, and patterns. And we don't hate it! We are seeing a lot of blue suits in a wide range of colors this year. Light blue has been popping up everywhere we look but we knew a dark blue-grey Magro suit was perfect for our moody desert wedding vibe. Magro took the time to meet with our model for measuring and they joined us at The Paseo for a day of photo shoot fun. Can't rave about their product, professionalism, and overall bad-assery enough.
The Rentals: Tremaine Ranch
Uhm, ok! How cool is this dark wood sweetheart table with claw feet on clear crystal balls?! Something straight out of a fairytale if you ask us. Leah and Matt of Tremaine Ranch always do an incredible job of taking a clients ideas, setting the vision into motion, and throwing in their own pizazz. Hence the super awesome table you see here!
We love the idea of a romantic setting for the newly weds. A sweetheart table allows them to soak in the bliss of finally saying 'I do' in front of their loved ones while still being close to the festivities. The red-brown wood paired with the dark blue rug worked perfectly with the dark florals and blackberry chocolate cake. Its very Anthropology meets dark beauty. We are into it! And you know we had to throw in some vintage candle sticks with black candles to top it off! Matt and Leah are the best.
Hair and Makeup: Miriam Kenley + Kendra Steele Beauty
For the bride, hiring a hair and makeup artist can be one of the most daunting and stress driving tasks. How you look on your wedding day is a big deal. You want to feel glamorous yet comfortable, and you never want to look drastically different from yourself. Thats why we love connecting with the best beauty guru's in the industry! Its not just about how talented they are, its about how well they listen, how kindly they speak to clients, and how organized they are with their schedules, timelines, emails, etc...
Miriam Kinley is a talented hairdresser in AZ and we love her sleek yet undone bridal hairstyles. This look she created on our friend and model Emily was the perfect balance between 'special event' and messy 'Free People' hair. Brides are going more and more with the structured chaos styles when it comes to their wedding day hair looks. And we can't get enough of it! This hair style photographed beautifully!
Kendra Steele is a makeup artist and we love her beauty looks because she understands the importance of good skin, clean blending, and what parts of the face you can accessorize more than others. She created this gorgeous natural bridal look with an emphasis in dark smoky browns on the eyes. Which made for some stunning shots throughout this series! A lot of brides are thankfully drifting away from replicating looks they find on Instagram to embracing finding a look that is natural and that really enhances them.
Hair Jewelry: Courtney Larsen, They Call Me Spindles
Courtney is truly a Jack-of-all-trades. From typography, to makeup, and creating jewelry pieces, we've loved working with this girl! We were so thrilled to feature on of her handmade pieces in this shoot! This gorgeous gold piece she created fit perfectly into the top of the hairstyle. It looked like a delicate crown! What bride wouldn't want that?!
The Video: Love Story Films
Where do we even begin to express how we feel about this Marry Mart video... Sometimes we can't find the words. We just squeal with happiness and excitement and other times we just sit in awe and try not to cry. Molly really worked hard capturing the best angles and moments of this shoot. She captured not only the creative process but also the beautiful experience of real love between two people.
Its what this whole thing is all about.
The photography: Tish Carlson
We want to extend a very, very special thank you to the incredibly talented photographer Tish Carlson. We have been following her work for sometime now and it was an absolute honor to work beside her. These photos will forever be a reminder of how beautiful it is when a community comes together to support each other and push the boundaries of the industry they work in. And for us, they will always be near and dear to our hearts as we start this amazing new journey as The Marry Mart.
The Venue: The Paseo Thank you to The Paseo for being a part of this shoot and hosting the February 20th, 2017 Marry Mart! This venue is absolutely charming and we can't wait to host an incredible event with them.
Cheers! XO, Amelia + Steph
